Best Squarespace Template Shops, 2023

I no longer offer premium Squarespace templates for you to build a DIY website. I’ve decided to focus all of my creative energies in serving, and supporting, my 1:1 clients with custom website strategy and design.

However, you do still have good choices if you want to start with a well-designed set of pages, and adapt them to make a website on your own.

Later, as your business grows and you find your DIY site is no longer good enough, you can come back and hire me then. :)

My 4 recommendations for where to buy a premium Squarespace template

Squarespace templates from Big Cat Creative

Squarespace templates, by Big Cat Creative

Big Cat Creative

One of the biggest and best established Squarespace template shops, with loads of choice.

  • 14 templates offered

  • Designed for: service businesses, bloggers, and online course providers

  • Training videos and email support

  • Choice of Squarespace Version 7.1 or 7.0. Fluid Engine available

  • Pros: Wide choice and affordable pricing. Weekly emails offer useful tips for advanced customizations.

  • Cons: This shop is so popular, you might see other websites looking very similar to yours. For my taste, some of the templates are a little over-designed.

  • $197

Squarespace template for authors, by Christy Price

Christy Price

A smaller template shop, with a more bespoke feel.

  • 4 templates offered

  • Designed for: service providers, authors, and interior designers

  • Training videos and 30 days of support included

  • Version 7.1, both Classic Editor and Fluid Engine

  • Pros: The only premium template I know of, that’s designed specifically for authors. Christy is a lovely person and talented designer.

  • Cons: If you’re an author, you’ll need to look beyond the style of the sample book covers to imagine your author brand here. Classic Editor is older than the Fluid Engine drag-and-drop editor in Squarespace. However, it’s still a solid choice and there’s nothing stopping you from adding Fluid Engine sections later, when you’re ready.

  • $297

Squarespace templates from FlyDog Digital

FlyDog Digital

A new template shop, so you can be assured everything is fresh and up to date, using the latest features from Squarespace.

  • 5 templates offered

  • Designed for: online marketers, virtual assistants, photographers, and wedding professionals

  • Tutorials and 2 weeks of support included

  • Version 7.1, Fluid Engine Editor

  • Pros: Customization services available

  • Cons: More expensive than other template options. Most of the templates have an upbeat vibe, so you’ll need to use your imagination if you want something more understated.

Squarespace templates from GoLive

GoLive HQ

  • 12 templates offered, plus add-on pages

  • Designed for: service businesses

  • Tutorials and 6 months of support included

  • Version 7.1, Fluid Engine Editor

  • Pros: Add-on pages available. Nice long support period.

  • Cons: The “author” templates are not truly targeted for what an author needs; they look like generic website pages. In particular, the “book” page add-on lacks elements that I incorporate in author websites, like large book cover images and praise from readers.

Would you like me to plan, design, and build your Squarespace website?

Building a website on your own isn’t for everyone. Although you can get acceptable results, and it’s a good approach if you’re early in your business, my clients hire me to create a strategic, professional quality website that makes your business look completely credible, supports your positioning to charge premium fees, and gets you found by search engines.

And it doesn’t take forever. After careful preparation together, I’ll design, build and launch your site in just 2-3 weeks. Learn more, and then schedule a complimentary conversation.
